WINNER:DICKS CONSTRUCTION CC, UPPINK LODGE
The lodge consists of a large central family unit containing kitchen and dining areas, main lounge and swimming pool deck. Two separate private bedroom wings are located on each side of the main unit and are linked by timber decks. The complex stretches across the natural hillside that slopes down to the main dam at Mziki and forms a wide elevation that blends into the tree line. Flat concrete roofs, with localised thatched areas over the bedrooms help the lodge blend into the natural bush.
Quality workmanship, luxurious finishings and the picture perfect manner in which it integrates with nature, makes Uppink Lodge a worthy winner.
HIGHLY COMMENDED:BENCON PROJECTS CC, HOUSE PHILIPS
Some of the difficulties encountered during the construction of House Phillips were the discovery of clay which placed the earthworks activities on hold for a month whilst Geotechnical investigations were conducted and drawings revised. Also sub-surface water was encountered which resulted in continuous collapsing of excavations. This necessitated the sinking of sups and constant pumping of water. Despite these difficulties the project was only extended by 3 months with consideration for minimum environmental impact being paramount. The dwelling was complex and constructed to very high standards and quality of finishes.

HIGHLY COMMENDED C:GRAEME KERR CONSTRUCTION, HOUSE IMBRIOLO
The construction of this house commenced in the rainy season which brought along its own set of challenges. The piling contractor faced with unrelenting mud, was unable to proceed up the 45 degree path off site. Using initiative, excavations began in order to erect a large retaining wall first, to stop wash downs from heavy rains. Once all the ground steel work was in and ready for concrete, there was another heavy downpour and foundations filled up with mud and water. Perseverance prevailed and before long, rain was no longer a problem. The end result was an aesthetically pleasing, brick and mortar under tile double storey dwelling with high quality finishes.
