The project first required that the structure's roof be removed and extensions be carried out to the existing ground floor layout. In order to create a second storey, a concrete slab then had to be suspended, while the construction of the entire first floor level followed thereafter. Purpose made scissor trusses formed part of the process and a wrap around verandah on both ground and first floor levels was incorporated. Adding to the splendor of the home was the construction of a new exterior entrance and bar area, while the construction of a squash court completed the development.

House Cockerell boasts a double volume to the entrance hall, with sweeping stairs that lead up to the first floor. There are engineer-designed bay windows and all window and door openings have purpose made mouldings. Ceilings boast decorative ceiling roses.
